A Municipal Review

Alain FABRE, Maire.
Dear Compatriots,

Towards the end of a seven year work period, it is appropriate that I set out in full detail a clear and transparent account of what we have achieved.

The municipal term of office that is reaching its end has been rich in achievements and very time-consuming if one was to keep all the live issues moving forwards. I must first thank the team of elected councillors that has worked alongside me with the shared objectives of the general interests of the Commune and service to its population. The Council staff has equally focused its considerable efforts on ensuring that the newly established services should work perfectly.

The enhancement of the services provided to our public has been our guiding principle because in our eyes it is the best guarantee of attaining and maintaining a quality of benefits and management in the essential domains like water and sanitation or indeed social services to individuals. Politically this mandate has been very difficult because the inter-communal background has been deplorable and has put a brake on the natural development of our Commune. At the human level, it has also been very painful because of the sudden and cruel loss of our friend Rene Serrano, Deputy Mayor.

The focus of our actions has been on the refurbishment and security of the numerous municipal buildings ; but equally, we wanted, as a precursor to the managed growth of the built up area of the town, to put in place the equipment and infrastructure essential for the water supply and sanitation.

The desire to take care of my village and its inhabitants and my passion for our Commune are as strong as ever. Louis AMBERT, Bernard BIAU, Jean-Pierre FRANC, Annie GIL and Patricio ROSSIN have chosen to stand down for reasons that are strictly personal.

With best wishes,
Alain FABRE

The formal review of municipal activities is set out in detail in the French version : the different achievements undertaken and their costs, in the domains of equipment, hydraulic installations, property, electricity supply, water and sanitation, sundry works and highways, town planning and public services....for a total budget exceeding 8 million Euros over the period from 2001 to 2008.
Let us remember that the number of inhabitants of Bize is in the region of 1,000 people.
Special thanks to our translator, Malcolm Eades.
