Bonelli's wine

"Bonelli's wine"

Minervois wine grown and bottled by Stuart and his wife Jaqui.

bonelli_04
A single place for home and wine-making.

Mr and Mrs Gregory have recently established themselves in the charming hamlet of La Roueyre, close to the commune of Bize-Minervois. Since 2005, the year of the first Bonelli blend, they have produced a local wine, which was marketed from July 2008.

Originally from the north of England, Stuart and Jaqui Gregory have fallen under the spell of the area of the south of France, filled with the wonder of the scenes of nature of this welcoming countryside, where the desire to build was accompanied, every day, by bird song, and, in the new season, by the unexpected growth of fragrant plants, rare flowers with enchanting perfumes, such as wild orchids in many colours...

The name of the original cuvee, Bonelli's, was inspired by the name of the Bonelli eagle: a very rare species in Europe. It is estimated that there are barely ten pairs nesting across France. The lost valley, which runs from Bize-Minervois to La Roueyre, goes to the heart of an unusual geological situation, with limestone cliffs, oaks and pines: an environment, which favours the birth and home of species otherwise threatened. The Bonelli eagle is the most emblematic example.

"This paradise smelling of juniper, rosemary and thyme, is marvellous for growing vines and gives life to extraordinary and diverse flora and fauna. Our valley is the refuge for the Grand Duc owl, for 20 species of orchids, for the dormouse, the red squirrel, pine martens, and the rare and majestic Bonelli eagle." Stuart Gregory.
